2021 Ford Escape
Still fresh after a complete redesign in the 2020 model year, the 2021 Ford Escape is shaping itself into one of the most sought-after small crossover SUVs on the road. From its ample space to its efficient and exciting powertrains, the 2021 Escape makes it easy to turn every drive into an adventure.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2021 Ford Escape is available in four primary trim levels: the S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. The SE, SEL, and Titanium are also available as either conventional or plug-in hybrid models. Opt for the SE Sport Appearance package to add black accents to your Escape's exterior. The SEL Stealth AWD Package gives your SUV ebony-painted aluminum wheels, black skid plates, and a gloss-black upper grille. Optional exterior features include a hands-free foot-activated liftgate, panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, and LED fog lights. The Titanium Elite Package adds chromed features to your Escape.
Engine (Power)
The 2021 Escape comes standard with a 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine that delivers 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. For more gasoline power, upgrade to the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that offers 250 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. The hybridized Escape boasts a 2.5-liter engine and motor system that create 200 total system horsepower.
These engines are paired with either an eight-speed automatic transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Performance
The gasoline-exclusive 2021 Escape can achieve up to 28 mpg in the city and 34 on the highway. The hybrid Escape gets up to an impressive combined 41 mpg. With the strongest of its engine options, the new Escape can tow up to 3,500 pounds. For greater confidence on slippery roads, choose an Escape equipped with the all-wheel-drive system. To boost fuel efficiency, this drivetrain disconnects when it's not needed. Use the selectable drive modes, which include Eco, Slippery, and Sand, to prepare your SUV for the current road conditions.
Interior
The Escape offers seats for up to five passengers and up to 65.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row when the 60/40-split rear seats are folded. Choose an Escape with the Cold Weather package to enjoy automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. The Escape has a rotary dial shifter that opens space in the first row. Optional technology features include the 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, a head-up display, a power-adjustable driver's seat with memory settings, a wireless phone charging pad, and a digital driver interface.
Safety Features
The 2021 Ford Escape comes loaded with an impressive selection of driver-assist technologies from the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite. Each model features Ford's Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, the pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and a lane departure mitigation system. If you upgrade your SUV with the Assist+ package, you'll also be able to use the evasive steering assist system, lane-keeping system, and adaptive cruise control. Make sliding into tight spots easier than it's ever been with the Titanium's automatic parking system. The Titanium also comes standard with the Assist+ package.
