2019 Ford Transit Connect's Exterior
The Transit Connect's exterior is remarkably minivan-like and has a state-of-the-art appeal to it. With plenty of configurations to choose from, you can find something that is just the right fit for your needs without having to opt for a bulky and outdated-looking full-sized commercial van. The new 2019 models will have an Aston-Martin appearance, as that seems to be dominating the entire Ford line-up for the year. This restyling gives the front a slimmer, more angular nose. Added to the front fascia are new HID headlamps that come with LED accent and fog lights and more steel reinforcement that protects the vehicle's occupants in case there is a front-on collision.
2019 Ford Transit Connect's Interior
The 2019 Transit Connect looks more like a minivan on the outside and feels more like one on the inside, especially when you opt for the passenger wagon. If you are looking to buy a passenger wagon version of this vehicle, you can opt between a shorter or longer wheelbase. The shorter wheelbase allows you to seat five while the longer wheelbase can comfortably seat up to seven people. The interior reflects the van's user-friendly nature with a center console equipped with enough physical knobs to make non-tech-savvy drivers feel at ease. Getting in and out is quite easy thanks to short lift from the ground, wide door openings, and spaciousness of the cabin. A 6.5-inch touchscreen display panel is new and hosts the upgraded Sync infotainment system, which is one of the most user-friendly of its kind.
2019 Ford Transit Connect's Mechanical
New for the model year is a re-tuned rear suspension with spring mounts that have been re-positioned in order to give the torsion beam more pre-load. This means that there are single-rate (instead of the more complex dual-rate) coil springs on the rear and an improved ride quality thanks to the damper tuning being broadened. There are also new copper-free brake pads and Continental tires that have better roll resistance than before. Other than that, you can expect to find the same mechanical features, including the optional power liftgate on the line-topping Titanium trim.
2019 Ford Transit Connect's Powertrain
New for the model year are two new engine options, both of which are particularly compelling and present upgrades from the outgoing model's sole 2.5-L 4-cylinder engine. The new base engine is a 2.0-L 4-cylinder direct-inject flex fuel that should get numbers close to what you find on the Focus (which gets 160 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque). There is also a turbodiesel 1.5-L engine which has been nicknamed EcoBlue. Ford has claimed that the 1.5-L turbodiesel should be able to get at least 30 mpg on the highway, which would make this one of the most fuel-efficient commercial vans available on the market. Additionally, each of these engine options will be paired up with an all-new 8-speed automatic transaxle transmission. This transmission is the similar in nature to the 9-speed that the company developed alongside GM; the only difference is the trimming back on one speed. The powertrain does come with an automatic stop/start feature on each engine.
2019 Ford Transit Connect's Safety
Safety standards were high on the 2018 models, so you can bet that this year's line-up of Transit Connects will receive equally (if not better, thanks to the reinforced steel on the front end) high crash test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Last year, the Connect received an overall crash test score of five out of five stars. There are also plenty of standard safety features to be found on the Transit Connect's line-up, including forward collision warning with pedestrian detection. You can also get blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert as optional features across the line-up.
You will be hard-pressed to find a safer and more comfortable commercial van in North Carolina. The 2019 Ford Transit Connect is agile, sturdy, and fully capable of hauling heavy loads along busy city streets.
