When Is The Best Time of Year to Visit Apple Hill Orchard?

If you’ve never visited Apple Hill Orchard before, you have to go at least once and chances are, after just one visit, you’ll already be planning your next trip. This orchard provides guests with the nostalgic experience of apple picking, an experience that defines fall and will make you feel like you’re inside of a storybook. Since you’re dealing with fresh produce and picking it right off of the trees, you have to plan your visit around the apple-picking season. The best time to visit the orchard is when the apple season begins, anywhere from late July through the end of October each year. Visit their website prior to the season starting to get the exact dates and time it opens.

When Is the Orchard Open for Picking?

The orchard typically opens for picking in August and usually remains open through sometime in November. However, the picking experience portion of the orchard depends on how many visitors come to pick apples during a given season as well as the weather during the season. When the orchard is open for picking, the hours are 9 AM to 5:15 PM Monday through Saturday each week. They are closed on Sundays.

How Do I Know What’s Available?

This orchard has taken the guesswork out of planning a visit. Before you go, you can plan your visit around the apples. Visit their website to find a calendar of apple availability where you can see what’s currently in season, what’s available for picking and when, and what has already been picked out for the year. This calendar will even show you what apples are available in the market if they’ve been “picked out” so you can still get the variety you were looking for.

What If I’m Not Planning on Picking Apples?

There are many things to do at this orchard aside from picking apples. You can stop and grab an apple donut at the bakery, shop at the Farm Market for apples, fresh cider, and unique gifts, or plan a photography session to get a head start on your family Christmas photos.

The orchard’s bakery has fresh items made right on site. They’re open during operational hours within the apple season, typically from the middle of August to the end of October from 9 AM to 4 PM each Saturday.

Shop at the Farm Market

If you had your heart set on picking a certain variety of apple but the trees were already “picked out,” visit the Farm Market. You may find those same apples available to purchase along with many other fresh goods. The calendar on the website will confirm if those apples are available in the market.
